Impact
At SBIF, we value both breadth and depth of impact. Building on decades of groundwork by our founder Richard Magid, we directly support dozens of young leaders in the U.S. and beyond — over 30 countries in total. These young leaders have already tangibly impacted hundreds more — and we’re just getting started.

In 2023, Shrouk Hussien was ready to launch The Art of Change, an intensive program addressing youth mental health through art and theater. She had 500+ applicants, a venue in Norway, and a powerful vision—but no funding.
Through SBIF’s support, Shrouk brought 20 young leaders from around the world to the retreat in 2024 & 2025. Those same participants are now applying their learnings in their home communities across three continents.

Zarrak Baloch has been a filmmaker from an early age; it was his path to understanding the world. By the age of 26, he had already directed more than 30 documentary projects. When he encountered the practice of glacier marriages, it fit his deep interest in sustainability and the preservation of indigenous practices.
To get the project off the ground and attract the interest of larger funders in the climate space, he needed seed capital to start the filming of this project. We’ve known Zarrak for over three years, and this was the perfect project to support him on.

In the Spring of 2025, the newly formed Revolved team was looking to launch the pilot of the Wild Hope Community Center project in Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe.
While they had interested funders for the actual building of the center, they needed to first prove out the concept.
SBIF’s “critical moment” funding was what made the difference and now two dozen young people are being impacted by the project.
